WHAT IS SOAR?
We are not oblivious to the fact that the exponential cost of attending upper education is making it increasingly difficult for some students to pursue the path. Because we firmly believe that supporting our youth is key to our community's future success. The Sedona Group awards three exceptional high school seniors who exemplify the 4 attributes of SOAR (Strength, Optimism, Achievement, and Resolve) $5000 EACH! We hope that a little financial assistance can help those students who are seeking to further their education. Whether that path is through a university/college or vocational/technical training, we want to help!
THE INSPIRATION FOR SOAR
The SOAR concept was developed by Kyle John, the late son of The Sedona Group's President and CEO Rick John. During Kyle's battle with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer, he developed the theme for this award as part of Sedona's 25th anniversary. Although Kyle sadly lost his battle at the age of 27, the SOAR scholarship has come to represent his legacy. Kyle's life embodied the 4 attributes of SOAR and that is why we seek winners who have also shown similar Strength, Optimism, Achievement, and Resolve when faced with their own life challenges.
